I just returned to my room from the blogger breakfast at ridiculous o’clock in the morning, but I finally met Judy Russell in person. She had posted a picture of her office window yesterday and I thought it looked familiar. It turns out, she is in the room next door.
It has been an intersting conference so far. All three of my presentations are finished. I was scheduled at 9am on two days. My comoiter lab on Publisher was small, my Seattle research lecture was smaller, my Search as an Art was standing room only. I was a little worried I’d forget what to say about some of my search examples from a year ago, but I listened to my recording from last year and I made some last minute updates the day before. And Joel Weintraub was there and he enjoyed the lecture too. I had a lot of compliments which is good because I’ve been really happy with how it has turned out the last two years.
As in SLC, Marlis planned several lunches that I’ve attended. The third one is today. These have some interesting conversations.
I met the Orlando cochairs, well, I knew one already. I set up a page for them since they have no conference webmaster yet.
The annual meeting was interesting, with some issues regarding the election. And there was even more drama outside of the meeting. One person dropped out of the running so only one person didn’t get elected. Then the past presidents were noisy and calling out Marlis for being out of order and such. But it turned out OK. I didn’t speak at the meeting because I talked to Marlis the night before. I kept her up for two hours.
